This is my hand thrown butter keeper. Based on an old medieval French design, excellent for keeping butter spreadable and fresh without the use of modern refrigeration.
If you've not come across this style of butter storage vessel before then believe me it truly is the best way to keep traditional butter without keeping it in the fridge.
Just pack some butter into the lid section, pour a little bit of cold water into the container part and then store out of direct sunlight or away from direct heat source like a radiator or stove. The butter will be kept spreadable and cool enough to last for some time. If possible freshen the water in the chamber every day.
This vessel has been thrown in two sections from a blend of porcelain and a French stoneware clay. It's robust and durable and is dishwasher and oven safe.
